Academy Awards Event Consultant Paramount Pictures, October 2013 - Present
• Turn-key, on-budget planning and execution of Santa Barbara events to support the Academy Award campaigns for ANOMALISA, INTERSTELLAR, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (directed by Martin Scorsese) and NEBRASKA (directed by Alexander Payne), which collectively won one Oscar® and received 17 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor and Supporting Actor/Actress.
• On behalf of Paramount Pictures and Paramount Vantage and in tandem with the Santa Barbara Cinema Society, planned and executed sold-out screenings for 400+ attendees, actor/filmmaker question and answer sessions (featuring director Charlie Kaufman, actors Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Will Forte, June Squibb and Jonah Hill) and elegant luncheons for the 125+ Santa Barbara-area members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. All efforts contribute to the films’ ongoing marketing campaigns to fuel industry buzz thus leading to guild nominations and awards and increased Box Office returns.

• Developed and enacted strategic marketing campaigns that led to a total of four Oscars® and 31 Oscar nominations in the company’s first three years. Campaigns included Best Picture nominees THERE WILL BE BLOOD and BABEL, and the Oscar-winning Best Documentary AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.
• Developed, produced and oversaw design and distribution of awards campaign materials including DVDs, score and song CDs, elaborate color mailers, script books and coffee table books sent to upwards of 100,000 people ranging from members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the Hollywood Foreign Press, the Writers Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild, the Directors Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, national and regional film critics, Oscar watchers and a host of other influential guilds and organizations.

• Managed awards campaigns for some of Fox Searchlight’s most successful films of the era including SIDEWAYS, which won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, earned five Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, and grossed nearly $72 million domestically to become Searchlight’s most successful domestic release to date; IN AMERICA, KINSEY, THIRTEEN and SEXY BEAST. Responsibilities included every aspect of awards campaigning from development, production and distribution of campaign materials (DVDs, CDs, script books, mailers), to genesis and oversight of screening programs, to management of talent appearance schedules, to budget development and maintenance, to submissions for all awards programs.
• Oversaw writing, editing and approvals for all press kits and printed promotional materials for publicity campaigns for all Fox Searchlight releases including those above as well as 28 DAYS LATER, the smash-hit horror film that earned more than $45 million; NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, which swept the nation, remaining in theatres for more than 20 weeks and earning more than $45 million, GARDEN STATE, BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM, ANTWONE FISHER, ONE HOUR PHOTO, THE GOOD GIRL and THE DEEP END.
• Wrote all corporate press releases and positioning statements ranging from film synopses, to new hire and promotion announcements, to acquisitions and start-of-production releases, to executive statements and speeches for trade events.
• Served as liaison between the studio and all film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

• Managed publicity campaigns for all new releases on video and DVD in 16 markets around the world. Titles include: X-MEN, WHAT LIES BENEATH, ME, MYSELF & IRENE and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. Responsibilities included: writing of all publicity materials, management of all photo shoots and stills, creation of on-line publicity campaigns, production of all electronic publicity materials.
• Writer and editor of the division’s bi-monthly newsletter, which included business case studies of each territory’s release results complete with information ranging from in-store display, to publicity and promotions, to overviews on the state of the industry.

• The Limited, Inc. – Researched and wrote the first-ever corporate history of the nation’s largest specialty retailer. Project entailed one-on-one interviews with executive leadership, researching a variety of mediums and cataloging data, marketing materials and video. Final product was video, printed and interactive timelines, CD Rom and an extensive historic narrative, all of which serve as the cornerstone for executive on-boarding programs.
• E*Trade – Researched and wrote all presentation materials for corporate national promotional partner trade campaign.
• Gerald Stevens – Copywriter for the nation’s largest integrated retailer and marketer of flowers, plants and contemporary gifts. Researched and wrote lyrical, yet factual descriptions of more than 300 different types of flowers and plants for use in point-of-sale displays.
Six Flags California Publicist, December 1998 – May 1999
• Complete PR campaign management including creative concept development, writing of all releases and printed materials, media pitching, event management, and on-camera interviews. In one campaign, a total of 20.8 million viewers were reached via media saturation on national outlets including EXTRA, Good Morning America, and E! Entertainment.
• Pitched Six Flags as television shoot location and served as on-site manager for film crews. Shoots included The Roseanne Show (CBS), Wild on the Runway (E! Entertainment), FYE (E! Entertainment) and The New Edge (USA, Sci Fi).

• Partnered in the development and implementation of a strategic employee communications program for this Fortune 500, publicly-traded retail company, which was at the time the 17th largest employer in the U.S.
• Delivered all corporate messages to the enterprise’s 141,000 associates through on-line and print publications, town hall meetings, video production, speeches written for the chairman and all divisional leaders, Intranet and Internet.
• Managed the creation and wrote all copy for The Limited, Inc.’s first web site (www.limited.com).
• Created and implemented a grassroots public relations campaign to recognize all associates hired or promoted to the director level or above. Received 100 percent press coverage.

Hameroff/Milenthal/Spence Publicity Assistant, January 1995 - July 1995
• Managed all publicity efforts of Nationwide Insurance’s Prom Promise public relations campaign for the state of Ohio, including writing press releases, pitching to the media, and serving as spokesperson for all events statewide. As a result of my contact with the media, the Ohio campaign generated the most press by more than 25 percent.
