Art of Curated Travel: Cuba

From the moment your private jet touches down in Cuba, it’s as if you’ve arrived in two parallel universes: one frozen in 1958, one that perseveres 58 years later. The first company to fly direct private jet flights from 19 U.S. cities to Cuba, Victor has partnered with Cuba Educational Travel as part of its “Art of Curated Travel” series to craft culturally enriching immersive experiences.

Bespoke itineraries created for Victor voyagers provide an insider’s perspective with a luxury lens. Take a private tour with urban planners to learn about Havana’s architectural past, present and future; dine with groundbreaking artists and musicians on cuisine prepared by Cuba’s top chefs; meet with diplomats on the current political climate; sit down with the entrepreneurs who are shaping the Cuba of tomorrow; and watch the sun set over the Capitol building from the rooftop pool of the historic 5-Star Saratoga Hotel.

Havana: Architectural Time Capsule

A true design time capsule, Havana’s architecture ranges from grand 18th Century Spanish Colonial palaces to the crumbling Belle Epoque mansions once owned by sugar and rum barons, to Meyer Lansky’s swank 1957-built Habana Riviera, the then-crown jewel of the U.S. mob’s underworld empire. Tour the Museum of Decorative Arts to glimpse the lux lifestyle enjoyed by its former owner, the Countess of Revilla de Camargo, who oft entertained guests like the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson.

The perfect family getaway: Blackberry Farm

A picture-perfect utopia nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry Farm is everything a family getaway should be, and then some. 4200 rolling Tennessee acres serve as pastoral backdrop for this great escape complete with its own bakery, butchery, brewery and creamery. A dream-team of artisans are on hand to make every moment magic: yes, there’s a jam lady (essential), a chief gardener, a cheesemaker, a forager, a chocolatier and a master sommelier.  The sporty set can choose from an endless array of adventures from fly-fishing, to shooting and riding. Or blaze your own trail on a custom co-motion mountain bike. For the children, there’s Camp Blackberry a fantastic mishmash that dives into nature, art, cooking, and caring for the farm’s animals. And then there’s the spa…

The annual Fourth of July celebration on the Farm sees families coming back year after year for homegrown fun. You’ll savor the spicy sweet tang of the famed BBQ Battle, pitting seasoned chefs against guests in the quest for best sauce. Camp Blackberry activities will keep the kids enthralled while parents enjoy live entertainment and farm-to-glass fresh beverages. As the sun sets over the Smokies, all are treated to a booming firework display. It truly is all that, with a (black)berry on top.

Your family’s great summer getaway is just a jet away. Fly with Victor to TYS Knoxville McGhee Tyson, TN and let the fun begin…

For Those Who Love the Great Outdoors

Every season at Blackberry Farm is cause for celebration for the outdoorsman. Anglers can cast their lines in famed Hesse Creek, the best mile of trout water in Tennessee, or troll for blue gill, bass and catfish in two on-site ponds. Orvis-endorsed fishing guides also lead excursions into the surrounding Smokies’ 700 miles of pristine waters. For the equestrian, there are wilderness rides, carriage driving opportunities and mounted foxhunts.

Aspen Ideas Festival

The world’s biggest brains will come together from June 23rd for Aspen Ideas Festival, to discuss everything from re-imagining capitalism to the future of food on our planet. Among 350 of the most inspired and innovative thinkers of our day, will be Former First Lady Laura Bush, Head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Facebook Chief Product Officer Chris Cox, Soprano Renée Fleming and Former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner.

From Mount Everest to philanthropy, from Supreme Court decisions to investing, inspired discourse will fill the halls. Taking a cue from the stars, a panel of expert astrobiologists will consider how life might develop on exoplanets and explore what we know and what we don’t know about the invisible 96 percent of our universe. This year’s festival will also serve as the backdrop for a reunion of Caitlyn Jenner and Vanity Fair journalist Buzz Bissinger one year to the date of the ground-breaking interview in which Jenner detailed transitioning to a transgender woman.

In the days leading up to the Festival, Aspen/Pitkin Airport (ASE) will teem with private jets. Victor’s skilled client services team is well-versed in the particulars of flying into this notoriously challenging airport and will deftly handle all aspects from quote to landing so passengers can maximize their Aspen-time. Plan to arrive by sundown for this is a daytime operation-only airport and those arriving after dark will be diverted to Rifle-Garfield County Airport one hour’s drive away.
